Henry Salt (1853-1939) was the author of the Life of Henry David Thoreau, Animals Rights and A Plea for Vegetarianism which inspired Gandhi for follow a vegetarian diet.

Researching and transcribing material for the Henry Salt Archive is always carried out on a voluntary basis, but the Archive does incur considerable costs purchasing material, even just for photocopies. In addition, the Archive has plans for two projects which will require moderate funding but which would preserve Salt’s work for future generations.
