Humanitarian Essays (William Reeves and A. and H. B. Bonner), volume 3 of “Cruelties of Civilisation,” the concluding number of the series contains reprints from the Humanitarian League’s pamphlets of the past three years. The writers include Hypatia Bradlaugh Bonner, whose paper on “The Gallows and the Lash” is given in the present volume; Mr. G. W. Foote, who writes on “The Shadow of the Sword;” Mr. Joseph Collinson, who discusses the vaccination question; Mr. Henry S. Salt, who deals with “The Humanities of Diet,” and others. The book is edited by Mr. Salt.
